I had a 30-minute phone interview with two really nice guys. They were super helpful, telling me not to stress since it was my very first developer interview ever (little did they know!). They asked me technical questions about OOP and databases. They seem to really care about whether you can learn and are willing to try new things, so showing you're excited about exploring new tech is a good idea.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Can you define what databases are?

I had a 30 minute phone interview with two people. They asked some general questions about object oriented programming that I wasn't really expecting, but I think they just wanted to hear me explain a few core ideas like inheritance and encapsulation. It was a pretty relaxed interview overall, and they made an offer without any coding tests beforehand.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Can you discuss the benefits of object-oriented programming, referencing its core principles?
  • Describe a situation where collaboration with a team positively impacted a past project.
  • Which specific team within Stats Canada would you be most interested in contributing to?

The interview had 3 interviewers. It was a one hour interview combined with a one hour written test. They gave me questions and 30 minutes to prep. Then they asked questions and wanted me to present answers with examples from my past work or programming experience. The interview part took 1.5 hours total. After that, I had a written test. The written test questions were easy and straightforward.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Basic programming questions on OO programming and database like SQL.
