The hiring process in North Carolina is slow but everyone I interacted with was wonderful. About a month after applying, I got an email invitation for an interview. I was interviewed by three employees. The interview covered typical questions about my background and experience, as well as job-specific topics like working with datasets and abstracting information. They also gave me a chance to ask questions and learn more about the company and work environment.

The interview process involved three quick rounds. After the third in-person interview, I got an email saying the hiring process was paused due to an unforeseen circumstance. A few weeks later, another email informed me they decided to move forward with a better-suited candidate. The communication style was quite strange.

I applied for about 150 jobs over 1.5 years and only got 3 or 4 interviews. The agencies take a while to get back to you after you apply. It took about 4 weeks from the application deadline until my interview, and this was for a role they really needed. They said it would take 2-3 weeks, but it ended up being 5 weeks. This was faster than usual because the position was highly needed. The interview itself was pretty short with a few basic questions.
