This experience was really bad, I felt like it was racist and biased. If you're African American, I wouldn't recommend applying. I went through three agencies, and the process felt really standard and impersonal. The people seemed either incompetent or intimidated by confidence. They didn't show much personality and mostly stuck to a script. I even had to interview with my potential supervisor, who only had two years of experience in my field and couldn't answer basic HR questions. Plus, one of the agency teams was just outright racist to me.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I was interviewed by a panel of three people. Two of them were former General Managers, and the third was from another program in the department. They all had the same list of questions and took turns asking them. They each took notes and graded my answers. Afterwards, they combined their notes and grades and compared them with other candidates. This team then made a recommendation to the cabinet secretary, who did a final interview to confirm the chosen candidate. This was my last interview for the state and happened almost 12 years ago.

Behavioral

The interview process was professional and straightforward, with no surprises. They really reviewed my resume and asked very specific questions about the claims I had made about my accomplishments. Specific items on my resume that I had included which matched the job description (ex: required technical skills) they also looked into. I later found out that they had performed a background check on me through back channels.
