First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at State of Nevada.
Administrative Assistant
I was interviewed by a panel of 3 people, they all took notes while I answered questions. They printed the questions out for me to follow along, which was nice. They asked follow-up questions based on my answers, which made it seem like they were really interested in me. I got a call offering me the job within a week.
- Where does this role fit into your 1, 3, and 5 year plan?
Administrative Assistant
I applied online back in April 2014. A few weeks passed, and then I had to take a test at a testing center, which I aced. About a month later, I got a call for an interview and a skills test, and I felt I did pretty well on both. Six weeks after that, they called me for a second interview. I got a rejection letter near the end of July 2014. It turns out I was on an eligible applicant list with the state. Another department contacted me in September 2014, and I went through another interview process. They did background and reference checks. I started in November 2014. It was a lengthy process, but patience paid off. The starting salary was a bit lower than I hoped, but I'm told the benefits and job security are quite good.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you resolved it.
- Can you describe your multitasking abilities?
Administrative Assistant
I applied online, and after about 5 months, they got back to me for an interview. When I arrived, I had to fill out a form asking for references from my previous jobs. The interview was with a panel of 2 people who mostly asked questions from a list, and they apologized for not looking things up more because they were writing. The whole thing took around 15 to 20 minutes.
