First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at STATE OF NEVADA DMV.
Technician
You'll be sitting with 3 or 4 supervisors at a table. They're not very smiley and will ask you situational questions. It's pretty straightforward. If it's an accounting role, they might dump money on the table or give you a bag of mixed bills to see how you count it.
- Can you share an instance where you assisted a customer?
- Describe a time you had to count a mix of bills.
- Tell me about a time you handled money counting in an accounting context.
DMV Technician
The interview had about 8 questions and was in front of a panel of 4 people from different DMV locations. They mostly just wrote down my answers and didn't interact much. The pay was $15/hr non-negotiable, which was a bummer because I knew I couldn't accept the job at that rate, especially given how much DMV techs are responsible for.
- What makes you want to work at the DMV?
- What are your five-year career goals?
DMV Services Technician
I had a panel interview with five interviewers, and they asked about ten questions. It was pretty minimal interaction, mostly they just read the questions. They seemed really focused on writing things down the whole time.
- What made you apply for this position and why do you feel you're the best candidate?
- What are your thoughts on the responsibilities of this role?
- Can you share an experience dealing with an angry customer?
Software Engineer III
The pros are that you get to work with a bunch of different people from all sorts of backgrounds and diverse groups. The cons are that you have to deal with customer complaints pretty much every day. Also, the pay isn't as high as you might think for all the hard work you put in.
- What is your definition of customer service?
- Describe how you would manage angry customers.
- What abilities do you possess that are relevant to this job?
