Got a call from the hiring manager first. They asked for a writing sample and an Excel spreadsheet before the interview. Then, I had an interview with two or three people where they asked me basic questions, like situational and behavioral problems.

The hiring process took about two weeks. The interview itself lasted an hour and I spoke with two supervisors from different departments. They started with some basic questions, and most of the interview was pretty easy. A lot of it was more about what you'd be comfortable doing.

After applying, I heard back via email within 1-2 weeks. The interviews were set up in the following week. While the state process is slow, this was communicated upfront. The first interview happened in February and the second in March. An offer came in April, and I was able to start in June.

The first week of the interview process went fine, the people I interviewed with were courteous and engaging. By the end of the interview they had informed me that I had done a good job and would go through the second round of interviews after the holidays. This is where things went south, I went 4 weeks past when they told me I would expect to hear from them without a word. I emailed them weekly with no reply, and when I did finally hear from them, they let me know that my application had gotten lost in the process, but unfortunately they had already chosen with another candidate a week before. I had paused my job search for a month because I believed that I was good for the job, only to be left hanging because my application got lost.
