First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at State of Alabama.
Data Entry Clerk
First, you'll need to complete a test, and then you'll have an in-person interview. There might be more than one interview. Your test score determines your hiring priority.
- Could you tell me about your experience?
- What are your career goals?
Information Technology Specialist
I met with the hiring manager and department manager. They explained how it would be to work under a contract versus becoming a state employee. Not a very technical interview.
- Can you describe your daily work with SQL?
Medicaid Eligibility Specialist
I was interviewed by a panel of about three people. They asked common questions, one I remember is how I've handled a difficult situation at work. They seemed kind of disinterested, but it's the state, so it's not a surprise. I got hired though.
- What is your motivation for seeking this position?
- Describe a time you handled a difficult situation at work.
Education and Training Director
It was a disorganized interview process, which should have been a clue about the organization. The interview itself was a panel interview. If you haven't worked for a state agency before, it takes a lot of getting used to, as everything is political.
- Can you tell me about your prior experience in education or training?
