First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at State Department Federal Credit Union.
Branch MSR
The interview day was very organized and professional. I arrived at the branch about 10 minutes early and was greeted by the lead teller, who asked me to wait in the lobby area for a few minutes. This actually gave me a great chance to observe the 'vibe' of the branch—it seemed busy but the staff was handled it calmly. I was then taken back to a private office to meet with the Branch Manager and the Assistant Manager. The interview lasted about 45 to 60 minutes. It didn't feel like a rigid interrogation; it was more of a conversation about how I handle people.
- How would you handle a situation where a member is upset because a check they deposited is on hold and they need the funds immediately?
Branch Supervisor
The interview process was engaging, personal, informative, and enjoyable. It gave me a good feel for the credit union's culture. I spoke with two managers who have been with the company for a long time. They asked me in-depth questions and were happy to explain things about the job. It felt more like a 'meet n greet,' not intimidating at all.
- What are your aspirations if you join SDFCU?
Senior Analyst
It started with an HR phone screen, then I had an in-person panel interview with both my direct manager and senior managers. They asked about my past job experience from my resume and also asked some situational questions that required analytical thinking. They also asked questions about the banking and credit union industry.
- How would you handle conflicts between team members
Teller
The interview process was really laid-back and chill, no stress at all. The managers interviewing me made me feel super comfortable while they were asking questions.
- What are some areas where you can improve?
