First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at State Collection Service.
Customer Service Representative
I applied and then did an assessment and a video interview. The recruiter was nice, and the interview was pretty straightforward. They ended up ghosting me, which is fine because I wouldn't want to work somewhere that requires your camera to be on for the whole shift, as that seems a bit much.
- Can you share an instance where you had to convey unfavorable news to a customer or patient?
Account Resolution Representative
The interview process involved a screening interview with HR, which lasted about 30-45 minutes. The HR rep was very friendly and did a good job explaining the job, the company culture, and what the day-to-day tasks would be like. The final interview was with the Team Supervisor, which was a bit less engaging, though professional. The company is known for being thorough and clear about expectations. Many team members have been with the company for a long time, and it's well-regarded. The process was efficient, with no long waits between interviews, and decisions are typically made within 24 hours after the final interview.
- Do you have a private space to work from?
- How would you manage difficult client interactions?
- What's your approach to handling multiple tasks at once?
Collector
It was pretty tedious. They asked a bunch of questions about my background and previous work in collections. Just basic stuff, you know? They also talked a bit about the company's history and asked why I thought I'd fit in. I had a phone call with someone from the main office, and then they set up an interview at the local office.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
- What kind of background do you have in collections?
- Why are you a good fit for us?
Bill Collector
Applied multiple times before getting a phone interview, then had an HR interview. After that, I had a one-on-one supervisor interview, followed by another interview with two supervisors. The next steps included a drug test and background check. I waited about two weeks for their decision.
- How are your phone skills?
