Telephone Order Representative
it was very easy. it included taking some qualifying exams in math and writing, plus a typing test. i had a one-on-one with a really nice hr interviewer. the questions asked were reasonable and easy to answer if you prepared. after the interview, someone from the department came down to take me to the floor for another one-on-one interview with her.
- How does your experience relate to this position?
Recruiter
Applied online and after a month with no response, I followed up in person. I met a recruiter who scheduled me for an interview the next day. The interview happened, but another week passed before I was invited for a second interview. A week after that, I had a panel interview with members of the HR team, including those focused on benefits, training, and another recruiter. The HR Manager seemed unsure about hiring me even after all three interviews. I had to follow up again. When I mentioned another offer, they quickly decided to hire me. The process had poor follow-through, and the HR staff lacked confidence and eagerness. The job had been open for over 3 months.
- No particularly difficult questions, but the interviews were quite long, with the HR Manager interview lasting about 2 hours.
Copywriter
The interview process for this freelance copywriter gig took about 8 months from resume submission to getting hired, but I was in touch periodically since I was working on other things. They asked for my work samples (articles, ads) again, which made me think they hadn't reviewed them. Then they sent a test where I had to write copy for a few items from a catalog in their style. They liked it, but then they wanted me to write for a DIFFERENT catalog and sent another test. I declined, suggesting they hire me for a few items first, and if I didn't meet expectations, we could part ways, as I wouldn't be an employee. I also pointed out it's a writer's job to adapt to different styles. They agreed, and I ended up writing for them for 8 years until the company closed due to the pandemic.
- Would you be willing to complete a test to demonstrate your ability to write in our specific style?
Receptionist
I went through 4 interviews with 4 different departments. I was initially overqualified for the first few roles, but the Customer Service Department eventually found me suitable. The HR person was really dedicated to placing me in the company.
