The interview for the Account Manager role was straightforward and professional. They asked about my customer service experience and how I handle difficult customers and multitasking. It was conversational and focused on real customer support scenarios.

Behavioral Technical Case Presentation

I went through a bunch of interviews. First, there was a phone chat with the recruiter. Then, I had one-on-one meetings with the hiring district manager and then a district store manager. After that, I spoke with an HR manager on the phone, and the last interview was a one-on-one with the regional sales manager. Even though I made it to the end and thought I had the job, that last interview was pretty tough. The regional sales manager asked me about how I'd handle some made-up scenarios. The whole thing took over a month, and since everyone's so busy, interviews got rescheduled a lot. It was also annoying that I had to keep repeating myself. You know, you learn that once you get the job, you talk to different teams the same way. So, this interview process kind of prepped me for that, I guess.

Behavioral Technical

I applied online and heard back from the corporate recruiter after a few days. That went fine, she was super professional. About a week later, the hiring manager set up a phone interview. I was ready, feeling I had the experience, acumen, and drive they wanted, so I was confident. It went terribly though! From the jump, I felt like the hiring manager was just going through the motions. I tried to get him to laugh or share his vision for the role, but only got "cool" and "o.k." responses. It seemed like I knew more about the job than he did. I really think he'd decided before we even spoke, and it was a waste of 20 minutes. He mentioned at the end he wasn't in a hurry to fill the spot and was taking his time to find the right fit for the team. That sealed the deal LOL! I sent a standard thank you, and after about a week of silence, I asked the recruiter for feedback and got the usual "your skills don't match...blah blah blah."

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Wasn't asked any tough questions.
  • Wasn't asked to discuss sales strategy, how to approach decision-makers, or how to convert customers into key supporters.
  • Got scripted questions with no input from the hiring manager.
