First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Standard Textile.
Engineering Intern
It was a simple and straightforward process. They asked me some simple scenario-based questions and asked me to explain what I did in my previous internship and any difficulties I faced while working on a project.
- Can you introduce yourself, and tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Procurement Manager
The interview was very brief with little discussion. I felt belittled during the interview. I never received any feedback after the interview, even three weeks later. The offered salary was below market rate. It was a very bad interview experience overall (2018). The recruiter contacted me again six months later with a higher salary offer, but it was too late by then!
- Could you name three of your strengths?
- Could you name three of your weaknesses?
- Please introduce yourself briefly without discussing your resume.
Talent Acquisition Specialist
So I started with a 30-minute Microsoft Teams call, and they really liked me and invited me for an in-person interview the next day. The in-person interview lasted about an hour and a half, and I got a tour and chatted with two HR folks. I sent a thank-you email that evening. They said I'd hear back in about two weeks. I didn't, so I followed up about a week later, but still no response. It was pretty disappointing not to get any word back, even if they went with someone else. I wish I'd at least gotten some feedback or a response.
- Can you describe your experience with different recruiting processes?
- Can you share an instance where you made an error?
Sales Consultant
So my friend and I both interviewed for sales consultant roles at Standard Textile, for our own territories. After some initial HR and hiring manager phone chats, they flew us to Cincinnati for the final round. In Cinci, I met with HR and some C-level execs, and got a tour of the place. The facility looked great, but the vibe felt pretty dead. I wasn't impressed with the execs at all. They offered my friend a job, but then ghosted her when she tried to negotiate. I didn't get an offer either, and later found out they hired someone from a competitor, which seemed like a shady move. Distributors have mentioned they sometimes sell directly to customers after being introduced by the distributor on joint calls, which sounds pretty unethical. During the interview, they really drilled down on the specific hospitality business segments I'd focus on, almost like they were using us to build a prospect list. Glad I didn't end up there, probably wouldn't have been happy. Makes sense their employee recommendations are low. My advice: trust your gut. If it feels off, just walk away.
- Tell us about the specific types of businesses within the Hospitality sector that you would focus on.
- How would you approach going to market, and which potential clients would you prioritize to quickly boost business?
- The VP of Sales mentioned our company's training is lacking and we'd rather hire individuals with solid training from other reputable companies. What are your thoughts on this?
