First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Standard Motor Products.
HR Generalist
I had an in-person interview at their Fort Lauderdale office. After that, I had a Zoom meeting with their VP of HR and another department head. The interview went well, but I haven't heard back in over a month since the interview. The follow-up was not great.
- How do you keep yourself organized and manage your tasks?
Engineer
The interview process started with a phone call, and then I went in person. They covered my travel expenses. The initial phone interview was quite brief. For the next stage, several managers interviewed me and asked questions. It seemed like they were assessing my job stability and whether I was likely to stay with the company long-term.
- Can you describe how you approach and resolve problems?
Engineering Technician
The interview process started with an email to set it up. I went in and met with the recruiter first. After that, I interviewed with the hiring manager. I sent a thank you email afterwards. I tried to follow up with the recruiter by email and phone, but I never got a response.
- Given several parts from various products, identify their functions.
Mechanical Engineer
The interview focused on mechanical engineering for aftermarket automotive parts. The interviewer was really nice and easy to talk to. There weren't any surprising questions. Everyone I interacted with during the hiring process was professional and responded quickly.
