School Bus Driver
It was pretty chill, but after the fingerprinting and physical, I didn't hear back. I had to reach out myself, and they got back to me quickly. The person I spoke with wasn't the manager, and the manager hadn't shared their contact info. However, the contact person was super helpful over the phone and via email.
- What makes you want to be employed at this company?
Software Engineer
So, I recently had a job interview for a software engineering gig at a tech company. It was a few steps, starting with a phone screen where the recruiter chatted with me about my background, experience, and why I was interested. They also gave me the lowdown on the company vibe and what the job actually entails. I made sure to plug my relevant skills and how excited I was about the potential opportunity. After that, they sent over a technical assessment with some coding and problem-solving stuff, which was my chance to show off my programming chops. I prepped for that by brushing up on data structures and algorithms and hitting up coding practice sites. Once I passed that, I got to do an in-person interview with some of the engineering folks. We talked about my past projects, the tech decisions I've made, and how I handle problems as part of a team. I shared some real-world examples and stressed how I like to collaborate and explain technical things clearly. It was a tough but good experience overall, letting me show what I can do and also learn more about the company and the team. Still waiting to hear back, but I think I did a good job and would be a solid fit if they pick me.
- Can you tell me something about yourself?
- Why did you apply for this job?
- Why did you leave your last job or why are you planning to leave your present job?
Staff Accountant
I applied and was called in for an interview at the Santa Barbara office about a week later. The interview itself felt pretty good, though it seemed like a busy place, it also felt laid back. They asked pretty standard questions about my specific duties and analytical work with numbers in past jobs. They also told me about the salary range and benefits. When it came to the offer, the base pay was actually less than what they stated as the range.
