Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Vincent's Medical Center.
Emergency Department Nurse
I was referred to the ED department by an ED educator. After a few emails with my now direct manager, I came in for an in person interview that lasted approximately 40 minutes. I had one internal interview with direct manager and then about 10 days later peer interviews with three current ED employees. I received an offer of employment from human resources a few days after the peer interviews, but had to stay on in my current position for 6 weeks while a suitable replacement was found. This was an in-house interview, meaning I was already employed with St. Vincent's Health Services.
- What qualities do you possess that make you feel you are a good fit for the Emergency Room.
Aquatic Fitness Instructor
I got a call from Management who wanted to meet me because of a recommendation. About a week later, I came in for a 30-minute interview.
- Can you tell me about your experience with movement training and how that relates to aquatic fitness?
- How would you use your movement training skills in an aquatic fitness setting?
Unit Clerk
The hiring manager and two assistant managers took turns asking basic interview questions. They asked situational questions about how I would handle certain scenarios. The interview took place in a classroom setting on the floor I was applying for. It was a laid-back and comfortable atmosphere.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage a difficult customer or patient, and describe your approach to resolving it?
Medical Assistant
The interview started with a phone screen and then I had a one-on-one interview. They told me about the job and asked me some questions.
- What do you expect from this role?
