First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Vincent's Hospital.
Registered Nurse
The interview process consists of a question and answer session based on scenarios. Four people will ask you questions for 20 minutes. You need to answer using your experience and knowledge, taking your time.
- How do you handle difficult staff?
Clerical Officer
Had a 20 minute interview in person. They asked me some scenario questions, like when I had to work with a team to fix a problem, how I would handle patient data for accuracy and efficiency, and if I knew what this job was about.
- How would you handle patient data to make sure it's accurate and efficient?
Research Assistant
It was a virtual interview over Teams. I went through 3 panels. The first 2 panels asked 1-2 simple questions each, like why I wanted the job or what skills I had. The last panel, who was the manager, asked about 5 questions that were mostly pulled from the job description. The whole thing took about 30-40 minutes, with around 8 questions total. I thought the questions were pretty in-depth and detailed, more so than other interviews I've done.
- What do you know about compliance requirements according to Good Clinical Practice/International Council for Harmonisation and rules about health information privacy?
Phlebotomist
Normal standard interview process with behavioural questions and it was a very relaxed environment with 2 people on the interview panel. You had to sign paperwork for police checks and children's checks at the interview and it's best to take your identification and proof of certificates in pathology with you to the interview.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult client.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- How do you define teamwork and its importance for a pathology collector?
