First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Olaf.
SOAR Leader
It was a group interview that took place in person. We were divided into groups of 3-4 people and asked the same questions. Then, the room was split into two, and each team was given props to create and perform a skit about being a new student at St. Olaf.
- What would you do if a student invited you to an off-campus party, and what is your reasoning behind that decision?
Director of Relations
I had an initial phone screen. The interview process was a remote call with four panelists. The panelists were not particularly warm. Difficult to engage remotely. Nonetheless, they were VERY timeline and notified me within a few days of my interview that I did not get the job. Very professional.
- Tell me about your relevant experience.
Building Manager
Had a short interview asking about my customer service experience and campus organization involvement. Also asked some questions about my knowledge of the building and campus overall. The interview was brief. Since I previously worked in a similar role within the building, this felt more like a role transfer rather than a completely new job interview.
- Do you have any suggestions for improving the building and its services?
Associate Director
I had a phone interview and then an in-person interview with several different groups of colleagues. Everyone was nice and professional and I thought the experience was well-organized. In total the process from start-offer was about a month. I was excited to get the job offer, but was disappointed it was about 10% lower than the national average for that position. I couldn't justify the change and had to decline.
- Describe a situation from your past.
- What motivates you to want to join our company?
