First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Mary's Healthcare System for Children.
Registered Nurse
It was a really good conversation, and I felt I presented myself well. Overall, the experience was positive. I was glad to have the chance to talk more about my background. It was a productive talk. I'm just going to wait to hear what the next steps are.
- How would you approach a challenging patient or family member?
Data Analyst
it has a 30 mins phone screen first, just asking for your experience and sql and cloud experience, then a 4 hours onsite interview, both tech questions (sql, data engineer & DevOps) and behavior questions. (interview with PM and CIO)
- On a scale from 0 to 10, how would you rate your SQL skills?
Speech Pathologist
The interview was quite straightforward. I was asked about my background and personal characteristics, and also about my willingness to travel for work. The entire process took place over Zoom. I spoke with both the head of the program and the head of HR.
- Tell me about your experiences as a speech-language pathologist.
- What are some of your personal qualities?
- Are you open to traveling for this position?
IT Manager
Applied online. CIO contacted me over the weekend and we spoke for about 30 minutes, then he set up an onsite interview for early the next week. I met with HR first, who was very helpful and gave me a tour. Afterward, she took me to meet the CIO. He was running late due to an emergency, so I ended up talking with one of his direct reports in a conference room for about 30 minutes. The CIO eventually came in but stated he couldn't see me because of the emergency. Despite me suggesting rescheduling twice, he ignored the suggestion and changed the subject, then walked me out. I sent a thank you note and followed up with HR a week later. They informed me they chose another candidate without providing a reason. This was an extremely unprofessional and insulting interview experience, making me question how the IT department is managed. Given the company's emphasis on compassion, this interview process, excluding HR's part, showed a complete lack thereof. If you're in IT, avoid this company.
- No job-related questions were asked since I didn't meet with the hiring manager.
