First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Jude Medical.
Software Engineer
The process was mostly smooth. It started with a phone interview followed by an invitation for an onsite interview. The onsite interview was 2 hours long with three different people. The first two were senior engineers and the third was a senior manager. They were all very nice and easy to talk to. Overall I felt that the interview went well. Following the interview it took about three weeks before I heard back from them.
- Can you tell me about your greatest weaknesses and strengths?
- What makes you interested in St Judes Medical?
- Describe a situation where you disagreed with your manager.
Principal Software Engineer
A recruiter from the company reached out on LinkedIn and I accepted the call the next day. We spoke briefly, and he asked if I was interested in the role. I said yes. He then sent me an email with a few questions about my past work, and I replied with short answers for each. He seemed satisfied and scheduled a phone interview. The phone interview itself was pretty straightforward. He asked more questions about my experience, how long I'd been in the medical device field, my reasons for seeking a new position at St. Jude, and what I found most difficult about my current job. I felt good about my responses and believed I answered everything well.
- What is your current pay rate?
- What is the salary range for the job position?
- Can you provide your exact current pay rate?
Software Engineer
I had one-on-one interviews with 4 engineers (both software and hardware folks) and a project manager. Each interview lasted between 30 and 45 minutes, with some going a bit longer. They asked for specifics about things I've done that are on my resume. There were also some questions about hypothetical workplace and people situations. It was nice that none of the questions felt like 'gotchas,' and all the interviews felt positive.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself? Also, do you have experience with GUI development?
- Have you used an oscilloscope before, and if so, could you explain how?
- Can you provide details on your accomplishments listed on your resume?
