First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St. Joseph's College.
Lecturer
First met with the department chairperson, then a second interview with the academic dean to go over my academic background, teaching experience and areas of expertise. After getting approved, an offer was given and availability was set.
- What experiences do you have both inside and outside of the classroom?
Network Administrator
I saw the job posting online and applied in February because it seemed like a good fit and I liked the school from when I was a student. It took them two and a half months to get back to me with an email for a phone interview. I spoke with the department director and another employee, and they both seemed annoyed, like I was wasting their time. They kept cutting me off when I answered questions. It felt more like an interrogation than an interview. They asked about my current job and then insulted it by bragging about how much more they manage. They said they'd let me know if they wanted me for an in-person interview, but I definitely won't be going.
- Tell me about yourself, but don't take longer than 60 seconds to do so...ready...go!
- What version of VMware are you using now?
- How many servers do you manage? We probably manage more than you do!
Assistant Professor
The interview process involved subject-related questions, a "tell me yourself" segment, and a teaching demonstration. I responded to all subject-related inquiries, introduced myself, and delivered a 10-minute class session.
- What have you studied most recently?
- What do you do for fun?
- Can you introduce yourself?
Graduate Student
It was pretty straightforward to get in. They only inquired about fundamental concepts. My estimation is that with a respectable academic record, admission should be simple. I applied for a BSc in Economics and Statistics.
- Can you define inflation?
- What are the characteristics of a recession?
