I had a really bad interview with the CEO recently. It felt like they wanted specific answers and when I didn't give them, I felt accused and couldn't be myself. The interview felt stressful and demotivating, with no intro and little effort to know me. It made me question the company's leadership and culture, and I don't think I'd be comfortable working there, even though I still think highly of some of the people.

The interview was pretty standard, with questions about what the job involves. The person interviewing me explained the expectations for teachers and their teaching approach really well. I also had to present a sample lesson plan, and I got some helpful feedback on it.

The interview process started with a Skype call. If the initial interviewer had to cancel, they'd arrange for someone else. I had to send two emails over two weeks to get a response from the rescheduled interviewer. When we tried to connect on Skype, it seemed like they weren't really trying. They asked me to try again, which was frustrating because it felt like they weren't making an effort. Then they dismissively said it wasn't working out for them, almost as if they didn't want to interview me in the first place. When I finally got to interview with the intended person, it didn't go well.

  • The interviewer asks incomplete questions, making it unclear what they are asking.
  • They provide feedback on answers, suggesting what else could have been said.
  • When connection issues arise, the interviewer implies the interviewee is lying by stating they can be seen and heard clearly.

It was pretty straight forward. You bring your resume and tell them about your teaching experience and any certifications you have. They might ask how you'd handle a student issue or do a sample class, depending on if they need someone right away. It might be worth just stopping by the school to drop off your resume since teachers come and go, so if you stop by on the right day, you could increase your odds!

Confirmed questions1 question
  • What is your motivation for teaching?
