First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at St Charles Health System.
Registered Nurse
I networked on Facebook to move to Bend and connected with an assistant manager who passed my info to the manager. I got a call within a week. The manager screened me and then I had a Teams interview a week later. This interview was a panel with 3 people in person and 2 on Teams. I was a bit thrown off because they turned the camera away from me and I couldn't see my face, my screen was black. I asked if they could see me and they said yes. I felt really nervous because it had been 6 years since my last interview and I felt out of practice, even though I did research the hospital. I got stumped on a question about spearheading a process improvement project and my mind went blank. I asked if we could revisit it, but they didn't. They asked what I do in a code situation. We do codes often, but I felt I didn't answer it well. Every answer felt like it was followed by silence. They also asked about a time I made a mistake, where I see myself in 3 years, why I want to work there, and what services I like best. There were probably more questions, but I felt my answers weren't as strong as they could have been. The questions were pretty standard if you're prepared to answer using the STAR method. If you prepare and don't overthink it like I did, you'll do fine.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- In three years, where do you envision yourself?
- Describe a situation where you initiated a process improvement project.
Behavioral Health Coordinator
The process was slow at first then picked up speed. I wish the department had provided more guidance. HR seemed really busy, so getting clear information on what was needed and when was a bit difficult. Overall, it felt pretty standard compared to other healthcare jobs I've applied for.
- Tell me about your experience and how you envision yourself in this position.
- How would you handle a hypothetical situation relevant to this role?
Supply Chain Logistics and Distribution Supervisor
First, there was a phone screening with the Director. After that, there were multiple panel interviews. Some of the people on the panels were lower-level employees or people who didn't really know the job. It wasn't clear why there were so many panels, but I think the Director just didn't want to be the one to make the hiring decision.
- Describe how you would implement process improvement.
Registered Nurse
I heard back pretty quickly from them. The interview questions were pretty standard, but there were also some questions about clinical decision making. The interviewers were really nice and made me feel comfortable, so I felt pretty at ease during the interview.
- Tell me about a time you had to make a clinical decision.
- Describe your process for making clinical decisions in a complex situation.
