First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SSM Direct.
Sales Representative
I applied online for the Inside Retail Sales Position and the whole thing took about 3 days. The HR team got in touch and were super nice and helpful in setting up the interview. When I got to the office, someone at the front desk greeted me and had me fill out an application. Then I met with the President who gave me a quick rundown of what SSM Direct is about and the clients they work with. They invited me back for a second interview where I got to see how they run things for the Inside Sales Position. The person who interviewed me was professional and answered all my questions. I knew exactly what I was applying for.
- What qualities do you possess that would lead to success in sales and marketing?
Account Specialist
The interview process seemed to go by rather quickly. I had a preliminary interview with the Hiring Manager, Phillip, who talked about how the company works and the growth potential. It was nice that the Owner of the company took the time to do the preliminary interviews himself. I was invited back for a second interview, which included a job shadow to see what Account Specialists do daily. During this second interview, we discussed compensation and work hours. The overall interview process was a positive experience, and it felt like everyone genuinely cared about their jobs and the company. I was offered the position and accepted. It's been a great experience.
- How can I contribute to the company's growth?
- What are my hobbies or activities outside of work?
- Do you believe you would be a good fit for our company?
Account Manager
The first interview, called a "preliminary interview", was only 7 minutes long. I took time off work and drove for 45 minutes to get there. The interviewer seemed to be going through the motions, like they had done it many times before, looking off into the distance while speaking. It was hard to feel engaged. I felt uncomfortable and put off by the whole thing and just wanted to leave. To make things worse, on my way out, I was made to feel even more inferior. I tried to go back to my job afterwards, but due to traffic and my normal work hours, I was told to go home. What a way to start the week.
- Can you name two qualities of a good leader?
Human Resource Assistant
Interview with the Company's president felt like a recorded line, he wasn't able to provide any information related to the position such as salary, duties, etc. At least he was honest to say that he only interviews candidates for sales/marketing and the person responsible to conduct HR interview wasn't there.
- What are your 5-year career aspirations?
- Can you define what leadership means to you?
