First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SQUIRE.
Onboarding Specialist
During the interview, I felt the interviewer was condescending. They directly asked about my age and questioned if I might be too old for the role, which I suspect is age discrimination and unlawful.
- What is your age?
- Could you be considered too old for this position?
Customer Success Operations Manager
Interviews were straightforward. There was a "skills test" that they admitted they were piloting that missed the mark for the role, and when I had my in-person interviews they disregarded the skills test and never mentioned it (I moved on in the interview process). Job screener was friendly and transparent.
- What would you say is your CS Ops superpower?
Platform/Backend Engineer
Had a quick phone screen, then they sent me a take-home assignment. It involved building a Node.js library using PostgreSQL for a virtual bank. The library needed to support getting balance, depositing, withdrawing, transferring, and refunding money. It also had to be covered by tests. They mentioned a code review would follow. I spent half a day on it and submitted it. After that, it was radio silence. I even asked for feedback, but still no response.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Analytics Director
I was contacted by a third-party recruiter for this position. The process involved one call with the third-party recruiter and then two subsequent calls with the hiring manager. These latter calls were conducted via Zoom, and while I was expected to have my camera on, the hiring manager kept theirs off, which I found unusual. Unfortunately, after completing these interviews, I was ghosted, which felt quite rude given the time invested.
- Can you explain what GDPR is?
- How would you describe machine learning to a child?
- How would you describe machine learning to an adult?
