So I applied online with my resume and cover letter and got a HackerRank challenge link for R/Python/SQL within 24 hours, which I had a week to complete. Right after that, they set up a phone interview. A week later, I had a business case interview with someone from strategy. Then, within a day, they offered to set up a Skype interview with three people. The interviews were: 1. A 1-hour business case. 2. A MySQL technical interview, which was a surprise. 3. A Python interview focused on basic data structures and loops. The recruiter told me the final round would be more business strategy and Python coding, so I didn't prep for SQL, but it showed up. I did okay on the first two SQL questions, but the interviewer seemed skeptical. Then they sent another coding challenge to predict conversions from trial to paid users, which I spent a lot of time on, building a logistic regression model. After about a week, they said I wasn't a good fit, which surprised me given my effort and the model's insights. They initially refused feedback, which I found disrespectful.

I went through 2 coding rounds, one for Python and one for SQL. Then I had a round with the hiring manager. The Python coding interview was easy, I coded without using Pandas. The SQL interview had multiple questions testing various SQL skills.

The interview experience felt less like a formal evaluation and more like a request for free consulting. The take-home assignment was engaging and realistic. However, the onsite interviews were focused on minor syntax details and tricky, unexpected brainteasers. Some interviewers seemed to be dealing with personal insecurities.
