First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Square 2 Marketing.
Contractor
There were two rounds of video interviews, one with HR and then another with the team I would have been working with. The questions they asked were good, but the follow-up was not. I got an offer after waiting for a long time. They were not very upfront about their operations but acted like they were. They seemed nice enough as people though.
- What would be your rate for X project?
Specialist
The recruiter got in touch about a HubSpot specialist and an ops position, both of which my background made me suitable for. That initial conversation was successful. The next call was strange; the interviewer seemed uninterested and confused, asking me multiple times where I envisioned myself fitting within the organization. Eventually, they brought up a content role. I submitted some B2B work samples, but they said it wasn't what they were looking for, despite me never being informed of their specific requirements. I had to follow up several times. While I acknowledge I'm not the strongest interviewee, I didn't feel like I received a genuine interview from someone eager to learn more. All in all, it was a very peculiar experience, and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone I know.
- Where do you see yourself working within an agency setting?
- In your opinion, what types of positions would be a good match for your skills?
- What are your preferred activities?
Marketing Consultant
I submitted my application online. HR got back to me fast and we set up our first Culture Interview, which gave me a good feel for the company, their goals, and the culture. Next, I spoke with Mike, the co-partner, about my experience, strengths, and weaknesses, and our expectations for the role and company vision. My third interview was with a Marketing Strategist, where we discussed the day-to-day tasks of the job; it was a really honest conversation. The final step was an in-person marketing plan presentation. I was given a case study and a few days to prepare a strategic plan, which I then presented to Mike, HR, and two strategists. They made me feel comfortable throughout the presentation.
- Regarding budgets and expectations, how comfortable are you having difficult conversations with clients?
Senior Software Engineer
I started with a recruiter call with HR to check if I was a good fit. Then, I had a call with the Interactive Director where I discussed my skills and answered some questions. After that, I was given a project to complete. I finished the project quickly and even went above and beyond because I had extra time. I then presented my project to the Interactive Director and Tyrone. Shortly after the presentation, I received an offer.
- I'm rating the interview difficulty as average since I'm unsure what constitutes a difficult interview. I've always just been myself and brought my experience along.
