I met a HR person at a convention and we talked about the company, but I wasn't super keen. About six months later, they reached out and encouraged me to apply. I submitted my application for a customer service job online and got an email the next day to set up a phone interview. A Customer Service manager called me for a brief, casual phone interview and then offered me an on-site interview for the following week. During the on-site, I met the heads of the departments I was being considered for. It went really well – they seemed impressed with my resume, which is pretty unique and visual, and it resonated with them. They seem to value individuality and creativity, and the interview focused a lot on my ability to learn, adapt, and develop in the role. It felt like they wanted me before I even got there.

Behavioral

The interview process felt confusing and lengthy, even though the people were nice and the company seemed exciting. An executive verbally offered me the job, but then HR sent a generic email saying I was not hired. HR's reason was that they thought I lacked enthusiasm, which was weird. The recruiting process lacked structure and clarity. It's also strange they don't have diversity or inclusion statements, making me wonder if bias was a factor. I just feel uneasy about it all.

Behavioral Technical Coding

Had a phone screening with HR first. Then a phone interview with the VP of Engineering, which wasn't technical at all. After that, I had a 3-hour timed technical test to complete online from home. They sent the test with a start time that was actually earlier than what we agreed on, which was a bit of a bummer. The test let me use any programming language and involved interacting with a few API endpoints they provided. No GUI was needed. I submitted the test, but they never got back to me afterward.

Presentation Behavioral

I was given a presentation to prepare that took about a week of work, and I didn't get much direction on it. Ultimately, I declined the offer because of how rude everyone was. During my presentation, an employee joined halfway through, asked some questions, and then left abruptly before I finished. Just so you know, the hiring manager and interviewers were rude too. The company seems like it's in a bit of a state right now.
