First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spring Hill College.
Area Coordinator
The hiring process went pretty fast, only taking about two weeks from when I interviewed to when I got the job offer. I actually really liked how they structured it. The second part of the interview felt more like a chance for us to learn about the school and have a good conversation.
- Can you share your experience that you think makes you a great fit for this job?
Nursing Professor
I applied online and heard back a week later via email about an interview. We set up a Zoom meeting. They gave me 24 hours to prepare a presentation after I asked about it. I should've seen that as a bad sign, but I went through with it. During the interview, she was chatty until the camera turned on and she saw I'm not white. Her reaction was like she'd seen a ghost and she started mumbling. Then I interviewed with the Dean. After that, I was supposed to give my presentation. I waited on the call for at least 10 minutes, but nobody showed up. I emailed the director to ask if I still needed to do the presentation. She replied no, and that was the end of it. It seems Spring Hill isn't big on diversity and will probably miss out on good talent.
- How do you think you'll interact with the existing professors who are more senior?
Admissions Counselor
First, I had a one-on-one with the VP of Enrollment Services, who is in charge of Admissions and Financial Aid. Then, I gave a presentation on a topic of my choice to the admissions team. Finally, I interviewed with a leadership team of three people.
- How do you manage multiple tasks at once?
- What drives you?
- How do you cope with demanding work?
Professor
They flew me in and I stayed in a local hotel. The next morning I was shuttled from interview to interview. The provost at the time peppered me with lots of questions about the Jesuit mission. From my conversations with other faculty, many have done exactly the same.
- What is your understanding of the Jesuit mission?
