I interviewed for an Amazon Marketplace Manager job. I was worried because of what I read online, but the interview wasn't what I expected. Instead of talking about my experience, they asked me to solve their problems. It felt like free consulting. They questioned why they even need Amazon, which was weird for an Amazon role. They also asked about other marketing stuff, making it seem like they wanted someone for both Amazon and their website, not just Amazon strategy. I had to keep clarifying things. It didn't feel like a place I'd be comfortable. I decided not to go back for the offered office visit because the role and their understanding of it weren't aligned.

  • Given that I have other sellers on Amazon, how would you secure the Buy Box?
  • Considering I earn more revenue through my own website, what would be the rationale for prioritizing Amazon sales?

The interview process was really long and drawn out. I had a Zoom call with four of the senior executives. The owners are super involved in hiring for every position, and one of them did all the talking during the interview.

It started with a quick Phone Interview. After that, I had a Panel Interview with the Owner, HR, and the Dir of Operations. Then I had to do a Skills Test. The process wrapped up with a Second interview, which was also a Panel Style Interview. All in all, the process felt pretty standard for a senior management role application.

Behavioral Other

This was the most unprofessional interview I’ve experienced in over 20 years of leadership and call center management. The interview lasted under 10 minutes. Two people identified as company leaders were present, but they asked only two questions, one being the standard “Tell me about yourself.” After that, they asked me to lead the rest of the conversation by asking them questions about the company I was applying to. There was no explanation of the role, expectations, team structure, or company culture. The interaction felt disorganized, disengaged, and completely lacking in structure. This is not the level of professionalism I expect from any company. I would not recommend going through this process, and I would not consider any offer from this organization based on how poorly this was handled.
