First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sprague Energy.
Terminal Operator
I got an email to schedule a call, and it was really quick. When I got it, it felt very professional. The whole thing was done thoroughly, and the person I spoke with was very nice.

The hiring process for this role was managed by a staffing agency. Initially, I had a casual, traditional first interview which went well. This led to a second interview with a hiring manager at Sprague. We were both expecting an offer after this second interview, so I cleared my schedule for it. However, the second interview was rescheduled multiple times. When it finally happened, the interviewer was late, dressed casually, hadn't read my resume, and was somewhat rude. They focused on why I wanted to leave my stable finance job, rather than my qualifications. They seemed to want me to speak negatively about past employers, which I wouldn't do. They didn't allow time for my questions and said they'd follow up. I emailed them, but they didn't respond, and I had to rely on the agency for updates. I also had to rearrange my work schedule multiple times for their reschedules, and they even suggested I call in sick to my current job. The position was still open after four months, despite their stated urgency to hire. This suggests potential management or culture issues, and I wouldn't recommend working there given the unprofessional experience. I later accepted a promotion at my current company.
- What is prompting your career change from your current role?
Contracts Associate
After applying online, I was invited for an interview. The process was quite fast. The interviewer was very conversational and it felt more like a casual chat than a formal interview. He expressed his positive impression of me and mentioned I'd hear back from his team in about two weeks. However, four days later, I received an email stating I didn't get the job. What was strange was that the email thanked me for interviewing with someone I hadn't met. This made me question if my interview, which was near the end of the workday on a Friday, was really considered, especially since the hiring manager was already on vacation. Nevertheless, it served as good practice for future interviews.
- Can you describe your experience working collaboratively within a team?
Terminal Operator
I went on site for a PIC discharge and applied before heading down. I had an on-the-job interview that was very professional. I seem to be the worker they were looking for, someone with a maritime background that is looking to benefit and help not only myself grow, but the company.
