Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spotlight.
Client Partner
It's extremely disappointing that after two months and four interviews I was not selected for this role. The first three interviews were pretty repetitive and asked generic interview questions. The fourth interview consisted of a 10-15 minute mock presentation followed by a panel interview consisting of more role-specific questions.
- Tell me about a time you had to deal with an unhappy client and how you resolved the issue.

Spotlight's interview process is pretty long, but they were upfront about everything. Apparently, since Spotlight is a small company focused on keeping its great culture, they want candidates to meet with several employees from different teams to make sure it's a good fit all around. The company's business is pretty unique and specialized, so a big part of the interview is making sure the candidate really gets what the job involves. It moved fast for me, probably just luck, but I think it can take longer depending on what they need. It was one of the better interview processes I've gone through; each interview had a specific topic and enough time to cover it and get to know each other. Overall, it was a good experience, you can really feel that they're a small, tight-knit, and friendly group.
- Can you discuss your previous experience and how you've managed client difficulties?
Client Partner
The hiring process was quite lengthy, spanning several months and over five interviews, which felt like a lot for the potential reward. There was an instance where one of the owners came across as disrespectful towards the end. While most of the people I met were pleasant, I've noticed some employees have left the company. The industry is very niche, so I'm not entirely sure about its specifics. Just be cautious and make sure you fully understand what you're signing up for.
