Had an initial phone screening that went well, the person was nice and we set up a time. They were kind of insistent on the next day, but I let them know that wasn't possible and suggested two days later. I had to fill out a lot of paperwork by hand, which would have been much easier if they'd just emailed it. The questions felt weird for a job as straightforward as a meter reader, especially with the pay being only $22 an hour. They asked what motivates me to apply for this job, which I thought was odd. I mentioned it would fit well with my evening classes for my master's degree. When I gave the completed paperwork to the interviewer (who was different from the first person), they barely looked at it and kept questioning why a Master's student would want this job, saying I'd obviously leave for something better. After that, I figured the interview was a waste of my time and I wouldn't get the job.

This job application was pretty straightforward compared to others, you just gotta show you're confident! I emailed the recruiting manager and got an interview invite about a month after applying, which was a bit slow. But the actual interview was easy. First, there was a presentation about Spotless and the jobs, then we had one-on-one chats with a HR recruiting manager. We had about 3 minutes to talk about ourselves, our background, skills, and what we're into. If you do well, you move on to a practical assessment that's designed around what you said you're good at. Pass that, and you're hired! If not, they'll just give you a private 'thanks for applying' before you go.

We were given a skills test and some behavioral questions. The skills test was tough, especially if you don't have prior hospitality experience. The behavioral part was mostly about teamwork tasks, but it was an interesting interview. We had to answer the questions and do the skills properly, including setting and clearing tables.

It was a very formal interview with a good and comfortable environment. Communication skills are important and it was good they asked questions about my past experience. It was very easy to register and I could contact the admin staff easily. The job was for a government contract for quarantine purposes and I was able to work there for almost 2 years.
