Product Designer
The interview process was quite long, taking about 2-3 months. I had roughly 6 interviews, including a phone screen, a hiring manager chat, a portfolio review, a collaboration review, a whiteboarding session, and finally an interview with the CPO. The whole experience felt a bit cold; they didn't seem to try to get to know me. During the whiteboarding, some interviewers didn't even introduce themselves, which was odd. I get that I would have met them later, but a quick hello would've been appreciated. The entire process felt drawn out. After six rounds, it took them nearly a month to send a rejection email. To top it off, they didn't provide any feedback when I asked for it.
- What motivated you to apply to spothero?
- Could you share some details about your research studies?
- Can you discuss your approach to collaboration?
Product Designer
Had a meeting with the Hiring Manager first, then met with the design team for my portfolio review. After that, I met with the Product and Development leads to discuss the product. The final part was a 60-minute whiteboard session where the designers and Product lead acted as clients and stakeholders. The whiteboard scenario was irrelevant to the industry or product. I didn't get an offer and didn't get any feedback, just the standard 'we decided not to move forward with you for this role.'
- Can you tell me about someone you admire?
Product Designer
After the initial recruiter call, there were four more interviews, including conversations with team members and whiteboard/collaboration challenges. They were upfront about everything. I thought the process was a bit much for a junior role since 5 rounds is longer than other mid-level jobs I applied to, but everyone was really nice and I had a good time.
- Tell me about an app you like and how you'd make it better. Also, who would be your ideal 3 collaborators for a project and when would you involve them?
- What's an app you currently like and how would you improve it? If you had to pick 3 team members to collaborate with you on a project, who would they be and at what point in the process would you bring them along?
