Product Designer
The recruiter was great, really communicative and made me excited about the company. The next round with the hiring manager was a letdown though. They were late and off video due to bandwidth, but I could hear a lot of background noise and sometimes couldn't understand them. It was disappointing. I felt like I wasn't impressing them and I was wasting their time. No follow-up after. I would have preferred a reschedule if they couldn't be present for the interview, especially since I had a presentation ready.
- How do you balance instinct and data in your design process?
Finance Manager
I had a hiring manager interview with Terry last month and I believe it was the most rewarding experience throughout my entire career. Unlike other hiring managers, Terry gave me a lot of great advice on how to achieve my long-term career goal, which is a totally different track than Finance. Prior to that interview, I also did a lot of soul searching trying to figure out what would be the best next step after working in several roles , including tech investment banking, private equity and post-MBA strategic finance in a big tech company. Maybe because there are some similarities between Terry's career trajectory and mine, he can totally relate to my current struggles between choosing a conservative path of pursuing a Finance role again and my passion of being a creator/builder of something that can be essential to people's life. Even though Terry and I aligned not to move forward with the interview process, I do think it was the most rewarding discussion. I really appreciate him for spending time walking me through how he made each choice of career and I can definitely relate to that as well.
- Can you please walk me through your resume, and tell me the motivation behind each career transition?
Account Executive
I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. First, I spoke with her to see if I was a good fit, and then I interviewed with the CEO. He's a great guy, and the company seems promising with good things ahead. They offered me an in-person interview, but I had to decline because I have some different career goals and was upfront with them that I probably wasn't the best candidate given my plans to pursue a different path. I do feel a little FOMO though, because they seem like a great company.
- Can you discuss your KPIs?
- What is your experience with the tech stack?
- What's your commute situation?
Growth Marketing Manager
I interviewed with the CEO, and he asked really broad questions but expected a super specific answer, getting frustrated when I didn't give it. He seemed more focused on getting the exact answer he wanted rather than seeing if I could actually do the job.
