After applying, I was quickly asked for an interview. The first interview was with the CEO and it was pretty bad. He kept cutting me off and didn't seem interested. I thought I wouldn't get another chance, but they called me back for a second interview. This one seemed to go really well, and I was told I was a top candidate and would hear back by the end of the week. However, I heard nothing. Weeks passed, and even after reaching out to multiple people, I still haven't heard back.

Applied online and got an initial interview about a week later with the Director of Operations. She explained the job, reviewed my resume and qualifications, and asked about projects where I've used my skills. She was direct and made the interview feel relaxed. The current designer joined to answer my questions, which was helpful for understanding the role better. This first interview was about 45 minutes. A week later, they contacted my references. Following that, I had a second interview with the CEO. She was welcoming, also reviewed my resume and qualifications, and we had a good conversation about who I am personally. Towards the end, the Director of Operations rejoined us, and we chatted more before they offered me the position.

The first interview is with a manager from the department you applied to. If that goes well, you'll be invited back for an interview with the CEO. Managers are super friendly! The CEO is assertive and can be argumentative, asking tough questions, so present yourself assertively. Like most businesses now, they check your social media and look at your pictures before the interview. It's a good idea to Google the CEO, Angelina Lawton, beforehand to get a better sense of her and see if you can find any common ground.

I had a meeting with the CEO and another leader, but it felt really uncertain. I expected the CEO to want a longer meeting, maybe 30 minutes, but she was short on time and only had about 10 minutes. It felt like I wasn't a priority. I had some questions for the CEO because I'd heard mixed things. The other person interviewing seemed nice but didn't have much experience. I asked about their leadership approach and how they keep people motivated. This person didn't seem to have a clear plan for employee growth. After a few questions, I decided it wasn't worth my time, especially not wanting to work for a CEO who doesn't seem to value their employees or a leader without a growth strategy for their team.
