Product Manager
It was a pretty long process with a lot of people from the team, but they were all really nice, so it was good. This was with the group that worked on their old cloud product before it was stopped.
- Questions about how you handle teamwork and changes in company culture.
- Can you share an example of a time you dealt with a major culture shift on your team?
- Tell me about your experience working with a team on a product that is no longer available.
Project Manager
I was asked to interview for a Project Manager role via email and was initially excited. However, the HR representative was quite unpleasant when I inquired about the salary range, which wasn't provided on the application. Despite her response, I decided to continue. A meeting was scheduled for later that week, but before it, I received a follow-up email asking me to answer 6 extra questions and submit them before the meeting. They specified that each answer should be at least a paragraph long and avoid generic content. It was frustrating because 4 out of the 6 questions could have been answered using information from my resume, making me question if my resume was even reviewed. I dislike when companies assign unnecessary tasks just for an interview, especially if the information was important, it should have been part of the initial application. Based on this interaction and the added work, I requested to be withdrawn from the process. It was a very off-putting experience. I have over 8 years of experience, several degrees, and highly sought-after certifications in my field. It's their loss. Unnecessary requests and procedures are indicative of company culture, especially considering the existing negative reviews.
- Respond to six additional questions with at least a paragraph for each, avoiding generic answers, before the scheduled meeting.
Technical Support Analyst
The interview process spanned two days, during which I met with seven or eight different people. The role I was interviewing for was intended to replace someone who was leaving, but they ended up not departing. I was informed during the interview that the position was quite challenging and that I wouldn't be expected to know everything right away. I interviewed with managers from three different departments and the person whose role I might have taken over. My background was primarily in tech support, but this involved proprietary software, so there was very little I could look up online; everything had to be learned through training. I was shown very little documentation, and they acted as if I had already been hired. A significant portion of the interview involved them explaining their systems to me.
- Can you tell me about your experience with e911?
Administrator
There were several video and phone interviews with my direct manager, the head of the department, and some indirect managers. Then there was a face-to-face interview with an indirect manager and some coworkers before I got the offer. The interviews were about 40 minutes each and pretty simple. Most people were really encouraging and wanted me to do well. They were thorough, which can be a lot if you're not sure you'd like the job or company.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you tell me about your previous work experience?
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with our company?
