Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SpiriTrust Lutheran.
Licensed Practical Nurse
Applied online. Had an in-person interview with two interviewers. The questions were hard and not standard. Got a job offer over the phone. Accepted and started training.
- What quality do you think all nurses should possess?
Registered Nurse Case Manager
I started with a recruiter after sending in my resume. Then I went in for an interview, but the nurse manager had apparently forgotten about me. She squeezed me into her schedule though. She gave me a pretty good rundown of the job, but she didn't really mention the parts I don't like so much, like being on call and having to cover evenings and weekends. Turns out I'm on call and covering evenings and weekends way more than she said.
- Can you tell me about your skills, especially with IV infusions, as many of our patients need them?
Clinical Coordinator
This interview was at the Utz Terrace. The interviewer was twenty minutes late, saying "you're in healthcare, you understand." They didn't apologize or give a heads-up. The interviewer kept mentioning how short-staffed they were and how everyone did many jobs. Most annoyingly, I was interviewing for a day shift role, but that wasn't even open anymore – only evenings and nights, which I didn't want and had stated clearly in my application and interview. The building was nice, but things seemed stressful and disorganized.
- Can you share an example of a time you had to juggle multiple responsibilities?
- What's your approach when working in an understaffed setting?
- Tell me about a time you were interviewed for a job that turned out not to be available.
