First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spirent Communications.
Senior Staff Software Engineer
First, an HR person contacted me to schedule a phone interview. Someone called me, took notes, and then my application went into a black hole. The interviewer seemed to be from Canada, was a nice guy, and I felt like I answered all the questions correctly. After that, I heard nothing back. I sent multiple emails and left voicemails for the HR contact and the main manager, but I never got any feedback or response. It was totally rude. It's funny because I think it's a great job, but what's the problem? Call me back. Why play these games for professional positions? From what I saw, it seems like a bad place to work, with an incompetent HR person and messed up hiring practices.
- Why waste my time with a phone interview just to go silent afterwards?
Software Engineer
I had a 1st round telephonic call that was about 10 mins long to discuss my current work and suitability for the role. After that, I was invited for a full day of interviews at the Spirent office in Bangalore. This involved 4 separate rounds: two technical interviews, one with the director, and a final one with the manager.
- What are the basics of C Programming?
- Can you explain sorting algorithms?
- Tell me about pointers in C.
Software Engineer Intern
It was a 2-round process. The first round had some initial screening. The second round was with the manager, and it included behavior questions and questions about my resume. There were also technical questions covering JavaScript, Ruby, database concepts, some Java, networking, and Unix.
- Tell me about yourself or other behavioral questions.
- Can you explain your resume and past experiences?
- Do you have experience with JavaScript and can you answer technical questions about it?
