Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spiralyze.
UX Designer
So, the interviews covered my past work, how I approach design problems, and my general work style. Then, there was a quick live design challenge. I had to fix and improve a form on the spot, talking through my UX and UI choices as I did it.
- Could you share how you first got into design?
- What's your background as a professional?
- Walk me through your typical design process.
UI/UX Designer
We'll start with a quick 15-minute intro call. Then, we'll have a brief 5-minute intro, followed by a 15-minute screen-sharing session where you'll complete a test task. The test involves two small projects: first, finding a logo in vector format or converting one to vector using a plugin, and second, recreating a form based on an example image.
- What are your salary expectations?
UX Designer
So the interview process had 2 interviews and 3 technical tests, with one test during the first interview, another test, and a final test during the last interview. They didn't ask any design or background questions, mostly just focused on how I interact with Figma. The team seemed great, but I turned down the offer because while I stated my salary expectations upfront in the first interview, they came back with a lower offer.
- In the first interview, would you be willing to install software on your computer that monitors your screen activity and captures screenshots during work hours?
