First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spiralyze.
Frontend Developer
The hiring process went smoothly, taking about 2 weeks. It had 5 steps: an online assignment, an HR call to discuss my past experience and the position, a technical assignment where I had to build a website, a technical interview focusing on native JavaScript, and a final CTO interview to discuss salary.
- Could you explain what you know about MutationObserver?
Frontend Developer
The overall experience was great. The process was structured well, transparent, and handled professionally across five rounds. It started with a Screening Test focusing on core JS skills. Then came an HR Interview for about 20 minutes, covering my background, what I expect, and if I'm a cultural fit. After that, a Technical Assignment, which was a real frontend project I had three days to finish. They even paid $50 for it, win or lose, showing they respect your time. Next was a Technical Interview, an hour long, where we went over the assignment code, did some live debugging, and discussed situational and conceptual stuff like throttling/debouncing, lazy loading, MutationObservers, DOM manipulation/validation, DevTools, and browser edge cases. Finally, a CTO Interview, a quick 30-minute chat about my interest in the company and salary. It was mainly about cultural fit and the offer, not super technical. The interviewers were chill and focused on real problems, not random trivia. Communication was clear, and I was updated throughout. Professional interviewers, clear communication, super smooth process. Highly recommend if you like pixel-perfect UIs and a collaborative, remote-first setup.
- Can you explain lazy loading and what its advantages are?
- Describe what a MutationObserver is and in which scenarios you'd use one.
- What distinguishes throttling from debouncing?
Senior Frontend Developer
I applied online and within a day or two, HR reached out on Zoom. We chatted about my background, salary expectations, work hours, and the tech stack. Then, I got a take-home assignment. They sent a small payment for it. After that, there was a technical interview focused on JavaScript, React, and A/B testing. I wasn't great at A/B testing, and they mentioned I should focus more on that if I want to advance in that area, which was a bit odd for a frontend role. Following that, I had another take-home task to check my skills. After I finished it, I got a rejection email.
- Can you explain Mutation Observer?
- Tell me about A/B testing.
- Explain this code.
