The agency arranged the interview. I was invited to Pasadena to interview with the head of the department for their client. They gave me a few time and date options. I dressed professionally but not in a suit, as it was a Friday. After the interview, the hiring manager said she'd decide by a specific date, and she followed through. I sent a thank you note, and the agency heard back from her quickly. Definitely send a thank you note!

I applied for the job online and was contacted by the recruiter for a preliminary phone interview. I was contacted by the hiring manager, who was a former manager. Then I went into the company and interviewed with the hiring manager and five other people. I did get a phone call that another candidate had been chosen, but I think I only received the call rather than an email because of my previous relationship with the hiring manager.
