First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Special Olympics.
Manager
It was a pretty long process with four rounds. First, I talked to my direct manager, then a panel interview, then HR, and then my direct manager again. There was a good amount of time between some of the interviews.
- Could you describe your personal brand?
Marketing Intern
I got referred in by someone I know outside of the company. A few weeks after sending my resume, I got a call. Then I had a phone interview, followed by two in-person interviews. I met with the Marketing Managers who will be my mentors for the internship and also met with the Executive Assistant to the CMO / Director of Marketing.
- Can you tell me about your general marketing experience?
- What marketing courses have you taken?
- What was your reason for choosing S.O.?
Communications and Logistics Coordinator
HR will email you to schedule an initial phone call. During this call, you'll be asked to introduce yourself, talk about your background, and share what you're seeking in a role. If that goes well, you'll move on to an interview with a panel of people you'd be working with. They also had me complete a homework assignment before that interview, which involved creating a marketing plan for one of their campaigns or programs.
- What do you know about us and our programs?
- Tell me about yourself and your experience.
- What kind of role are you looking for?
Leadership and Program Manager
After I sent in my application online, I got contacted to schedule a Skype interview. The interview was about 45 minutes long. The hiring manager mentioned he was talking to a bunch of people for this part of the process. It felt like a standard screening interview where they asked basic stuff like 'why SO?' and 'tell me about yourself', and then dug into my background with leadership development. I got a quick response after sending my resume, but it took a few weeks after the interview to find out I didn't move on.
- Why do you want to work for Special Olympics?
- Tell me about yourself.
- What's your experience been with leadership development?
