Education Manager
I applied for a job on LinkedIn without realizing it was through a placement agency, as the job description didn't mention it. They quickly informed me that my pay expectations were too high for the role (seriously, include pay ranges!). Even though my expectations were out of sync, the interview continued. When I inquired about the extra questions, the interviewer explained they wanted to keep me in their system. That's when I found out they were a placement company interviewing for another organization. It felt a bit off, and I would have appreciated more upfront transparency.
- What is the pay range you are looking for?
Financial Services Specialist
I applied for a job I saw advertised on another site. The first step was a phone interview, which felt more like an informational chat, and the recruiter seemed unsure about the job's location. After that, I had to sign a NDA before they could schedule the actual interview with the client. Following the client interview, the recruiter asked me to write a thank you email for her to forward. I did this, but then heard nothing back. The client mentioned they'd let me know about next steps within 10 days. When I hadn't heard anything, I emailed the recruiter, but got no response. I emailed again, and she finally replied, saying the client would decide in about two weeks. Still no word after that, so I took another job.
- What's prompting your job search?
- Can you handle a commute to the downtown area?
- How do you manage your personal life alongside your work commitments?
Copy Editor
Recruiter reached out via phone, email, and text about the job. I replied, and we scheduled a call. The recruiter texted shortly before our meeting to ask if we could reschedule for the next day. I agreed and told them my availability. Then, silence. After a few days with no reply, I emailed them expressing continued interest but received no response. It felt unprofessional and rude, honestly. This kind of thing makes me dislike recruiters. I won't waste my time with this company again.
- Can you describe your availability?
Recruiter
The interview process was brief. They inquired about the systems I've worked with and the duration of my experience with them, along with a couple of behavioral questions. There were no formal skill assessments, but if you lack references they can contact for verification, they might administer a quiz on your proficiency with Microsoft Office systems.
- How familiar are you with Taleo?
