First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SparkCharge.
Graphic Designer
First, I had an initial interview over Google Meet with the Art Director. Then, I had an in-person interview where I met the Marketing Director, HR, and the Art Director again. I also got to meet the rest of the team, and they were all really welcoming.
- What is your favorite recent design trend?
Mechanical Engineer
They seemed interested at first, but communication became flaky. The interviewers seemed disengaged during the interview, like they weren't that invested in filling the role anymore. While that's understandable, the experience didn't make me want to reapply.
- Can you explain the workings of a Lithium Ion battery to a high school student?
Executive Assistant
I spoke with a recruiter initially, then had a video chat with the COO and CEO. It was alright. I'm not sure they're searching for an EA, but more of an Executive Business Partner. Some questions they asked were kind of annoying, like why I didn't keep my EA title in 2020 (there was a pandemic and everything shut down?) and how deeply I interacted with Investors. They seemed to expect more than just calendar management and logistics when dealing with Investors, which was also strange to me. Investors usually don't engage with EAs beyond coordinating meetings, so why would they? I also found it disheartening twice when I was answering them, the CEO and COO didn't realize they weren't on mute and talked over me. I pretty much knew I wasn't getting the job because they didn't seem to care to even hear my answers. I got a standard email the next week from the recruiter saying I would not be moving forward, which was fine. This seems like a cool place to work, but maybe they want to align the job title with expectations and compensation.
- Would you be alright with monitoring the CEO's email?
Inside Sales Representative
Had an initial recruiter call that went really well, I was super keen on moving forward. The next step was a Zoom call with some generic questions, but the main interviewer actually left about 10 minutes into it. They ended the interview abruptly at 30 minutes, so I didn't even get a chance to ask my questions.
- Could you start by telling us about yourself?
- Describe your approach to handling a technical call.
- What strategies have you used to increase sales?
