First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Spanx.
Sales Associate
It was a brief and easy interview process. I spoke with three people: the assistant manager, the store manager, and the district manager. They were all really nice and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. I got hired about two weeks later and started working on the sales floor.
- Can you introduce yourself and explain how Spanx's mission aligns with your personal values?
Sales Associate
I had an interview with the store manager, which was pretty casual. It felt like a conversation, and we interviewed at a coffee shop since the back store was small. The manager bought me coffee. She seemed to like me and said I needed to interview with the director over FaceTime. She mentioned something about 'image' for that interview. We scheduled it, but she never called, and I didn't have her number. The manager called to apologize and reschedule. We did, and I got the call this time, though 20 minutes late. The director was in her sweats and asked some questions from a list but mostly talked a lot; I thought she might have been high. I didn't hear back for two weeks, so I followed up with the store manager, who said they went in a different direction and wouldn't say if it was about my image. I'm a woman of color.
- In five words, how would your best friend describe you?
Sales Associate
I met with the store manager at the store. Then I had a facetime interview with the district manager, and then the regional manager before I was hired. It was a bit much having to meet with upper management who I never even see. They also expect a certain look.
