SpaceX Technician Interview Questions
& Process

First I had a call with a recruiter. It was pretty standard, asking why I wanted to work at SpaceX, if I'd used hand tools (like torque wrenches, DMMs, calipers, micrometers), and some stuff about my resume. Then I got invited for an onsite where I got a tour of the place, saw my potential workstation, and learned about the facilities and different parts of the company. The last 30 minutes were in a room with a panel of other technicians and supervisors. They had me use a few tools and asked me some technical questions along with some 'get to know you' stuff. If you're cool with a 70% work and 30% life balance, this could be a good gig.

Applied on their website and had two initial phone interviews, each about 30 minutes, with department heads and team leaders to gauge my experience. After good feedback, I was flown out for an in-person interview. This included a panel with 5-6 people asking about my experience and hypothetical scenarios. Then, a facility tour with a team leader. One final phone interview followed, which felt like a formality. An offer came a week later. The pay was a bit low for my experience, with little negotiation room, and the benefits seemed lacking for the role's responsibilities. My main concern is seeing compensation and benefits decrease as the company succeeds.

It was three phone interviews total. First up was the technical recruiter, then I spoke with my manager and supervisor separately. They were really focused on my attitude and if I was interested in the field, and they were super into it themselves and really outgoing. They didn't ask any technical stuff, but they did go through my resume point by point. I was going for an intern spot. From what my full-time coworkers told me, my interview was pretty different.
