First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at SpaceX.
Customer Support Associate
So they invited me to this networking event which was basically just everyone watching two people interview each other in a small room, like we were all just cattle. Then there was another part where the interviewer asked me what I would do if a customer asked for something against policy. I said I'd check with my supervisor. Then she asked what I'd do if my manager wasn't there. I felt like she was trying to get me to say I'd break policy, so I said I'd apologize and explain I couldn't accommodate them. She ended the interview right then. It felt like a game. This is a dumb question, if you want me to break policy, you need to say I can. The lady with the dreads was also super rude. It was a disgusting and humiliating place to interview.
- Why are you interested in working in customer service?
Customer Support Associate
First, there was a phone screen with the recruiter, and then I had an onsite interview with the managers. They got back to me pretty fast. The recruiter explained the whole process really well from the beginning. Getting to the onsite interview was easy, and there was lots of parking. The managers were nice and didn't make me feel judged.

So, the interview process for Starlink was a bit much. It started with two phone interviews. The first was just with a recruiter, I think mainly to check my availability for the next one. The second phone interview was with a support supervisor and was pretty standard, mostly asking about my past experience. Then, I had an in-person interview with the customer support manager, supervisor, product manager, and the recruiter. This was especially weird since we're in a pandemic. They asked me to prepare a presentation and an "executive summary" detailing about 5-6 professional accomplishments beforehand. They also asked for my SAT scores and my high school and college GPAs, which seemed excessive for an associate role, even with experience. It felt like they're really trying to find super intelligent people. They gave us a tour, which was cool, and emphasized they only hire the best. The interview kicked off with my presentation, then they asked questions to gauge my product knowledge, which required a ton of research since Starlink wasn't launched yet and info was scarce. Some questions were unanswerable. Afterwards, they asked behavioral questions, seeming to focus on cultural fit – typical startup vibe. They said they'd respond within 10 business days, but I had to follow up after that to get an update, and then received a canned rejection. Pretty unprofessional given their high standards.
