I had an interview scheduled with Space Coast Credit Union in November 2024. However, instead of speaking with the hiring manager as planned, I was met by a recruiter who informed me that the hiring manager had a personal matter and that my interview would be rescheduled - without any clear timeline. After weeks of waiting, I finally had my interview in December. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment or apology for the delay, which was disappointing but not surprising. From the moment the interview began, I could sense that the hiring manager was disengaged. She maintained little to no eye contact, was constantly reading long questions from her monitor, and even raised her voice at times, making the experience uncomfortable. It became clear that she had little understanding of QA work, which further reinforced my feeling that this was not the right fit for me. Overall, this was one of the most unprofessional interview experiences I’ve had, and I left feeling disrespected and unvalued as a candidate.

After applying, expect a call within about a day for a quick phone interview. It takes roughly 4 interviews before they decide if they'll start you in a 6-month paid training program. They schedule one interview per week, so it can take around a month to get hired, which can feel a bit slow if you need a job quickly. The second interview is with HR, and the third is with 2-3 managers from different branches. It's important to highlight your sales experience because they emphasize the impact of not meeting sales goals. Be ready to explain thoroughly why you left your past jobs, as they will question you about it. Also, if your current studies are not in banking, they might question your motivation for applying.

Behavioral Technical Coding

It was a pretty disappointing interview process, felt like it was stuck in the past and not relevant to modern software engineering. They didn't really assess practical skills. They had me self-rate on a scale of 1-10 for different skills but didn't seem to want to hear my explanations, just pushed for the number. Then came a lot of what I call 'Software Developer Trivia' – obscure facts that no one memorizes because you can easily look them up. They focused on rote memorization instead of checking if I could find information quickly, which they didn't let me do. Asking if I could check my notes got a negative reaction. They gave me FizzBuzz, which was way too simple for someone with over 10 years of experience; it was just a basic conditional. The whole thing felt insulting and impractical, especially for the low pay offered for the trivia they expected. Plus, it's only contract-to-hire.

It took about three weeks to get through the whole thing, with 3 interviews in total. The last one was a panel with five people on it. There was a timed personality test too. They asked about past jobs and how I'd deal with specific situations like an unhappy employee or disagreements between staff.
