Food Assistant
The interview experience was good and I was initially hired, but the company never followed up after saying I got the job. I emailed again for a response but received none. So I would decline if they finally contacted me.
- Tell me about your previous experience.
- What makes you want to work here?
- When can you start?
Student Services Technician
I sent in my application online and waited about three weeks before the HR department reached out by phone. They then sent an email with details about what to expect during the interview. The actual interview was in-person and had two parts. The first part was a written exercise that took 15 minutes, using a computer they provided. This written part involved scenarios, like one where a student was told by faculty they'd get credit for a test, but it wasn't granted and the due date passed, preventing the student from graduating. You had to write a memo to the student about it. After the written part, there was a 10-minute period to look over the interview questions and take notes. Then, I was interviewed by a panel of 5-7 people. The questions they asked were relevant to the job, including more scenario-based ones. After the interview, they emailed to let me know their decision.
- Could you share an instance of managing cultural diversity?
Education Coordinator
You start with a 30-minute task where you have to write a letter to an instructor about them leaving trash, ending class early, and not submitting paperwork on time. You also had to complete a worksheet in that same 30 minutes, but I didn't realize that and didn't finish it. After that, there was a 15-minute Q&A session about typical interview questions. The whole interview felt off because I messed up the first part and the interviewers weren't very friendly, except for one person who was just there for compliance. There were 4 interviewers and Dawn at a boardroom table, and they wouldn't let me sit closer to them, which made me feel awkward right away. I think maybe it was just an off day for them or me.
- Tell me about your experience with cultural diversity.
- Imagine you're the only one in the office and several problems pop up at once: a copy machine is broken and a class starts in 5 minutes, a student is upset about an instructor and wants to talk, and a toilet is about to overflow. How do you handle this situation?
- What do you know regarding the Southwestern Education Center?
Counselor
Had a 3-tier interview process, and the interview panel gave glowing reviews. Ultimately, the hiring decision came down to nepotism between the Dean of Counseling and the Disability Support Services Director. The person they picked is known to be the worst and laziest counselor.
