First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Southwest Human Development.
Family Support Specialist
I applied for this job on Indeed and it was a pretty straightforward process. First, there was a conversation, and then I had to do a written exercise based on a given scenario. The atmosphere was good, and the interviewers were friendly, and they answered my questions about the job and what's expected.
- Have you worked with families from various backgrounds before?
Support Specialist
It was a long, extensive screening process. The interview itself was over 2 hours long and felt more like an interrogation at a police station than a professional interview. They didn't even offer a follow-up call, just sent a generic rejection email. I wouldn't waste my time interviewing here.
- How would you approach a fictional random scenario where you lack background context?
Registered Nurse
The interview process took about a month, starting with a preview telephone interview. After that, the manager set up an in-person interview for the following week. Initially, the interview panel included the manager and a mental health specialist. Later, an admin rep joined to help with Spanish translation during the interview. I didn't ask about a second interview or any future testing. It's hard to judge based on first impressions. I saw on the SWHD website that they offer some great programs for child development.
- Can you share an instance where the medical team worked together on patient care?
Family Support Specialist
Hiring was pretty fast, they got back to me right away to set up an interview. The managers I spoke with were really nice and made me feel welcome and comfortable. They asked about my experience and why I want to work with foster kids. They also gave me a quick tour of the place.
- Can you tell me about a time you had a conflict at work and how you handled it?
- A writing sample was needed as part of the interview.
